Displaying soft power with tele-communication

The 21st century is full of chaos and complexities. With the emegence of the concept of globalisation, this chaos becomes even more complex. The modern wars can’t be won by guns and tanks or in other words, the modern wars won’t won by the country with lage military strength but the country which has a better story to tell the world. Here comes the concept of hard power which quickly can be explained as the power of a country to attract others and get what it wants without coercion.

While the hard power is displayed by showing force and coercion, soft power is displayed by dialogues and discussion to attract the rest of the world by doing something good for the others. There are several ways a country can display its soft power. The Hollywood and the McDonald’s are symbol of displaying the US soft power. Apart from it the US is building its telecommunication industry at a vary rapid speed and it is thus gradually becoming the symbol of US soft power.

The US has third largest users of mobile phones and connections after only China and India. Of course the latter two tops the chart because of their too large population. But the percentage of number of smartphone users in the US is much higher than that of both China and India.

Moreover the country is getting more and more number mobile phone connections everyday which not only helps in connecting more and more people with each other but also helping in boosting the telecommunication industry which ultimately helps in boosting the economy. Several companies to attract the costumers offer many schemes to get more and more people on the chart. T-mobiles Black Friday Deals are giving customers to add up to the campaign.

Indeed, the significance of hard power can never decrease but for the US to maintain its power sharing in the 21st century, it has to focus more soft power.
